What I learned while traveling on an RV
- When you're in Iola, always get pie at Crystal's Cafe. It is amazing and can substitute two meals. Next time you run into John Gard, ask him about his piece.
- It's not a classic car show, an antique car show or any other good word for old. It's the Iola Old Car Show, and they like it that way.
- Concrete is cool.
- Standing on a street corner in downtown Sturgeon Bay on a cold, November Wednesday morning is not a good idea without gloves and a hat.
- Take Dramamine before getting on an RV--it will make the trip more enjoyable.
- If you're the advance vehicle, get ahead of the RV. And don't pass them going 90 on Highway 54.
- Always support the people that support you. Even if you're not hungry, eat pie, a burger, candy, whatever else they throw your way. Small businesses are key to the economy and we need to do everything we can to support them.
- Don't play NFL Blitz against John Gard. He handily beat myself and his kid John Vincent in a game.
- The people in the 8th Congressional District are some of the best people in the world. Everyone has a smile on their face and is always polite and helpful--even if they don't support you.
- And finally, it doesn't matter what time you wake up or go to bed in the last week of an election. We can all catch up on sleep on November 8.
