TV4US is still at it

Today TV4US, a.k.a. AT&T and other telephone companies, have launched a new series of ads about cable competition in Wisconsin. Since I've been working on a policy project about this, I have a couple of thoughts on the ads.

This legislation (AB207/SB107) was introduced in February. It passed the state Assembly in May. But the State Senate refered it to the Joint Finance Committee after its telecom committee approved it.

Even with Democratic Party Chair Joe Wienke lobbying on behalf of AT&T, the Democrats are still stalling it. For what? Useless PEG programming?

Every month or so I see an AT&T crew put up a new U-Verse node in Green Bay. (They look like this.) They finished one down the road from me in May. They are finishing one near the UWGB campus on Scottswood Drive. I have mapped out on a whiteboard where all of the boxes are on the east side of Green Bay and there are at least 12 of them by my counts.

If the Legislature doesn't pass this law soon, I will be pissed.
